Aaron Lowinger and Becky Moda recently released this lovely little book, one I was excited to read since I first heard Aaron read them. I’ve known both of them for a bit now, especially Aaron, who’s in two of the little postcards I’ve made. Big papa Lowinger, with the best laugh – out of the gut! – I’ve ever heard, the mayor! What I like about Aaron is that he rarely shies away from the big statement, the big, affirming emotions, and he pulls it off without sounding like a man-of-men. Everything is overwhelming, but there’s always something there to just tie it back, throw it into relief, to make sure he remembers. Those initial grand emotions aren’t thrown away, they’re remade, and this is what they are for. The guide to weeds is a long book of poems, intermittently broken up by Becky’s drawings (the above is not representative of the ordering.) I’m still investigating it; I probably will for a while.

Below is a video of Aaron reading a longer piece named Bills Fan. Becky and Aaron have been married for a bit, but they’ll be throwing the party for it soon. I’ll be missing it as I move to Texas. Damn.
